Tore down walls and shelving, created new walls and door opening, along with new carpet, texture, and paint. Added a new crystal light fixture. Installed Allen & Roth shelving. Each unit cost $199, plus the costs for drawers, shelves, and rods. Whole closet cost around $1200. The few companies we had come out to give quotes were around $1500 with 5 weeks waiting time and the material wasn't as nice. It pays off to do things yourself. Install took one day. Next to come: shelving system to hold 50 pair of shoes.
Jessica, I am just looking at your blog for the first time. I do not envy you the renovations you are doing, having renovated homes in the past. However, I will also say that once the job is complete, there will be a huge amount of satisfaction knowing that you did it! The closet is looking great!

ReplyDeleteI'm jealous! I'll be looking for a house this year (hopefully) and am torn between getting something that is move-in-ready or a fixer-upper. I've always wanted to demo something! Can't wait to see the final product...master closets are my weakness!
ReplyDeleteI love before and afters! What a great space - you could even have a bench seat in there. We have the standard wire shelving but want to upgrade someday, can't wait to see what you do! p.s. When on earth do you have time to do this?
